Michael Miller and Peggy Vrana began working together in 1981 in their Coastal California studio to produce wax resist decorated stoneware pitchers, wall platters, vases, mugs and bowls. Their work is a reflection of Michael's technical throwing skill and Peggy's freehand decorating technique.
Michael throws all of the shapes on a potter's wheel using no molds or presses. Peggy decorates each piece, hand painting wax resist with a sable brush, using no stencils or guides. Her designs are fluid and graceful, whether geometric or curving and intertwining. Peggy is inspired by ancient indigenous cultures of the Americas, Africa, the mid-East and the South Seas.
